The Importance of Nutrition
Recovery from an addiction means that you have to pay even more attention to what you eat and what nutrients you put into your body. As you are eliminating substances from your body you will find that your preferences for the taste and texture of food will change. This makes it even more important that you keep track of what and how much you eat so that you can make sure that you are maintaining a healthy eating pattern to keep your body at its best.
It is important that as you are in recovery that you eat a variety of healthy foods. The greater the variety of foods that you put into your body the more likely you are to be getting the vitamins and minerals that you need to stay healthy. Make sure that you get at least five or more servings of vegetables and fruits each day. There are many ways that you can add more vegetables and fruits to your daily diet. During recovery you should try to eat lean fish, meat, and poultry so that you reduce the amount of saturated fats that are in your diet.
